Class 10-29 Warmup + PUG

Over the past week we've been sculpting characters!  Soon, we'll be printing them on the school's ultra fancy 3d printers!  I'm so excited to have this little guy for my desk:

Week 8 sketches

Over the weekend, I took a bus trip to Pittsburgh!  We visited the Carnegie museums of art and natural history.  I was able to draw from fossils and taxidermy animals:

The taxidermy was a bit creepy, but that's probably the closest I'll ever get to a giraffe or rhino in my life!  On the art side, I was able to see master works up close and person.  Our textbooks really don't do them justice.  My favorite pieces were Vincent van Gogh's Wheatfields after the Rain, Monet's Water Lillies, and Paul Signac's Place des Lices St. Tropez.  Signac's pointillism piece really worked it's magic in person.  Seeing the physical brush strokes on each piece was breathtaking.

I found myself sketching a lot more during classes this week:

For homework, we were to draw 30 sets of eyes.  I also really enjoyed the exercise from our last class and begun drawing some caricatures from my favorite show, Arrested Development:

Class 10.3.13

For warmup, we used pixelovely to push poses.
Using this site, we also explored expressions!
It was a lot of fun and definitely something I want to explore more.
